- Herniated/Slipped Disk- A disc herniates or ruptures when part of the center nucleus pushes through the outer edge of the disc.
- Bulging disk - A bulging disc is different from a herniated/slipped disc in that a bulging disc typically occurs gradually over time rather than suddenly. A herniated/slipped disc is often the result of an injury or trauma to the spine. In the majority of patients who experience a bulging disc, there is no pain unless the disc becomes herniated or protrudes into a nerve.

In the majority of patients who experience a bulging disc, there is no pain unless the disc becomes herniated or protrudes into a nerve. - Sciatica- Pain along the large sciatic nerve that runs from the lower back down the back of each leg. Sciatica is usually caused by pressure on the sciatic nerve from a herniated disc.
- Degenerative Disc Disease- Medically referred to as spondylosis. Spondylosis can be noted on x-ray tests or MRI scanning of the spine as a narrowing of the normal "disc space" between the adjacent vertebrae.
- Spinal stenosis is a painful degenerative condition of the spine that effects the nerves and spinal cord. In spinal stenosis, the vertebrae and cartilage of the backbone narrow in on the spinal canal, the hollow area of the spinal column that encases the spinal cord. The narrowing eventually begins to compress the spinal cord and the nerves that branch out from it. This condition often begins in adulthood but does not produce any symptoms until later in life, usually around the age of 50 years or above.
- Low Back Pain- Low back pain is often triggered by some combination of overuse, muscle strain, or injury to the muscles and ligaments that support the spine.
- Neck Pain- Pain that occurs anywhere from the bottom of your head to the top of your shoulders.
- Facet syndrome is a little known and quite elusive cause of low back pain. It is generally accepted that intervertebral discs degenerate with advancing age. Findings associated with facet syndrome often include: 1) tenderness localized over one or more facet joints, 2) diffuse referred pain over the buttock and sometimes the posterolateral thigh, 3) exacerbation of pain with any sustained posture, 4) loss of lumbar lordosis, 5) exacerbation of pain with hyperextension, 6) x-ray or CT evidence of degenerative disease of the facet joints and 7) negative straight-leg raising and absence of neurologic deficits.
